CIPE Entrepreneurship Update
Russia – Eight graduates of a CIPE-administered youth entrepreneurship training program were awarded certificates on October 21 entitling them to low-interest loans to start businesses. The loans, each up to $4,000 in value, are intended to help finance start-up businesses that range from a beauty parlor to a travel agency to a bakery. The loans are provided by a government entity, the Committee for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Adygea. The Committee for Youth Affairs awarded the loans on the basis of recommendations from CIPE’s local partner, the Adygea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The U.S. Agency for International Development is funding the three-year program, which covers six regions in Russia’s volatile North Caucasus area.
