Bangladesh Women’s National Business Agenda

The Bangladesh Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) is going to launch the first Women’s National Business Agenda (WNBA) on 26th February.  Chief Guest: Finance Minister. Special guest: Home Minister (first woman to be home minister in the subcontinent, maybe in Asia too). Distinguished guest: President FBCCI (apex Trade Body).

180 organisations who are coalition members and 500 women entrepreneurs will participate. BWCCI also made a theme song for WNBA and will have a special supplement in daily newspaper.

Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Program for the Arab Region, in Cairo

10,000 Women, Goldman Sachs, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and The American University in Cairo are sponsoring this program to achieve the following goals:

  • Increase the business and leadership skills of women entrepreneurs;
  • Assist women through a theory-based and practical approach to learning;
  • Improve the understanding and perception of women’s role in building entrepreneurial ventures and creating societal wealth;
  • Teach women entrepreneurs how to use and access resources;
  • Provide skills on how to build sustainable networks of support;
  • Transform women entrepreneurs into mentors who will pass the learning on to others, and;
  • Build a community of women and men who promote and support entrepreneurial activities.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) E-Learning Course for Businesswomen Associations, March 1-31, 2009

Sunday, March 8, 2009, marks International Women’s Day. To celebrate this occasion, WBI (the World Bank Institute) and IFC (a member of the World Bank Group) are joining forces to deliver e-learning on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to businesswomen associations and their members globally. The objective of the free learning event is to build capacity relating to corporate social responsibility among women in business as a tool to make organizations more competitive, to create new opportunities for women and to foster the development of multi-sectoral partnerships. This e-Learning course complements a project implemented by IFC’s Gender Program and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to promote Gender and Sustainability Reporting.

Training on Making Governance Gender Responsive, Philippines

The Center for Asia Pacific Women in Politics (CAPWIP) is a non-partisan, non-profit and non-governmental regional organization dedicated to promoting equal participation of women in politics, governance and decision-making. CAPWIP is happy to announce the 2009 training schedule for the course on “Making Governance Gender Responsive” (MGGR): 20-27 March, 23-30 July, and 20-27 November 2009.
